Kaposi's sarcoma

Helmut Schöfer is a dermatologist who has been providing medical (dermatological) care for HIV-infected and AIDS patients at the university hospital of J. W. Goethe University in Frankfurt/Main since 1982. By the end of 1983 he established regular office hours for patients with acquired immunodeficiency, which are still ongoing. 1990 qualification as a lecturer for dermatovenerology (thesis and monography: HIV and Skin Diseases (Schwer), Coauthor: "AIDS 1992" - "AIDS 2000" (Steinhäuser), "AIDS und die Vorstadien" (Springer), "Rosacea" (Thieme 2003, editor). Responsible author and coordinator of the "Kaposi's sacoma" guideline of the German Cancer Society (1997-), Coauthor of the "Herpes zoster" guideline of the German Dermatological Society (2003). Founder and first chairman (1996-2000, 2003-) of the working group "Infectious Diseases in Dermatology" of the German Dermatological Sociecty. Since 1998 member of the executive board of the German STD Society. Since 1983 assisstant medical director and lecturer, since 2000 vice director at J.W. Goethe University Department of Dermatology.
